Pawel Prigozhin expands Wagner Group operations in Central African Republic

Pawel Prigozhin, the 28-year-old son of the late warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin, has taken a significant leadership role within the Wagner Group's operations in Africa. Despite reports that the Kremlin has sought greater control over the mercenary group following Yevgeny Prigozhin's death in August 2023, Pawel has reportedly expanded his influence in Bangui.

In the Central African Republic, Pawel Prigozhin is said to command approximately 500 fighters. His activities include maintaining control over gold mines and engaging in combat against insurgents. According to reports citing former Wagner employees, government officials, and researchers, the Prigozhin family business generates more than $400 million annually through various activities, including the control of precious metal resources.
