Pax Silica project may require 90 million liters of water daily

The proposed Pax Silica project in New Clark City, Tarlac, is estimated to consume between 65 and 90 million liters of water per day. This information was disclosed by Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) President and CEO Joshua Bingcang during a Senate Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change hearing.

To address concerns regarding water sources, Bingcang stated that the project does not intend to use groundwater extraction, which could impact local residential and agricultural communities. Instead, the BCDA plans to utilize surface water harvested from the Bangut, O’Donnell, and Abacan rivers. The proposed strategy involves collecting and treating excess river water, particularly during the rainy season, to ensure a reliable supply without depleting underground resources.
