Payas drinking water infrastructure undergoes major renewal

The Hatay Metropolitan Municipality is renewing the drinking water infrastructure in the Payas district to ensure healthy and uninterrupted access to water. The project, managed by the Hatay Water and Sewerage Administration (HATSU), aims to modernize an aging network that frequently causes water loss, leakage, and malfunctions.

To date, 164 kilometers of a planned 178-kilometer network line have been completed. Additionally, 4,500 out of 7,500 planned subscriber service connections have been established. Work has been finalized in several neighborhoods, including Cumhuriyet, Fatih, Kürtül, İstiklal, Yenişehir, Karacami, Karşı, Karbeyaz, and Yıldırım Beyazıt, where residents have begun using the new system. Ongoing work continues in the Çağlalık, Kozludere, Bayraktepe, and Karafakalı neighborhoods.

To minimize disruption to traffic and protect existing roads, HATSU teams are utilizing horizontal drilling methods at seven specific locations, including two railways, two highways, and three motorways.
