PayaSTEM students aim for TEKNOFEST rocket competition victory

Students from the PayaSTEM Artificial Intelligence Center in Payas, Hatay, are preparing to compete in the TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition. The 11-member PayaSTEM PAIROC Rocketry Team aims for first place at the finals, which will be held from September 7-13 at the Hisar Shooting Range in Aksaray.

Building on previous successes, including the ‘Best Team Spirit’ award in 2022 and the ‘Best Advisor’ award in 2023, the team has developed a new rocket featuring a polycarbonate body. This design is lighter than traditional fiberglass, allowing the rocket to target an altitude of 2,900 meters. Additionally, the students designed the rocket's flight computer themselves. Team captain Kayhan Övünç Uysal noted that the team has participated in the competition for five years and is highly ambitious about securing a top ranking this year.
