Paydari Front urges Iran to withdraw from Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty

The Front of Islamic Revolution Stability, a hardline political faction in Iran known as the Paydari Front, has called upon the Iranian parliament and the Supreme National Security Council to initiate a withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The faction has stated that military endeavors related to this move should proceed “as quickly as possible,” a demand interpreted as a push for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

This escalation occurs amid an ongoing power struggle between Iranian moderates, such as President Masoud Pezeshkian, who favor negotiations with the United States, and hardliners who advocate for continued conflict. The domestic tension follows a war launched by the US and Israel on February 28, which has resulted in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, damage to regional infrastructure, and significant disruptions to global energy supplies.
