PayPal rejects $53 billion Stripe and Advent takeover offer
PayPal Holdings Inc. turned down a joint acquisition proposal from Stripe and private‑equity firm Advent International that valued the payments company at about $53 billion, or $60.50 per share. In its second‑quarter 2026 earnings release, PayPal reported revenue of $8.68 billion, up 5 % year‑on‑year and ahead of the $8.47 billion consensus. Adjusted earnings per share came in at $1.38, beating the $1.28 estimate. The company generated $1.8 billion of free cash flow, repurchased $1.5 billion of its own shares and paid a $0.14 dividend. It also raised its full‑year 2026 adjusted EPS outlook to roughly $5.38 and reaffirmed its goal of achieving $1.5 billion in annual gross savings through AI, restructuring and technology upgrades.
