PayPal implements global layoffs to cut costs and refocus on technology

PayPal is continuing a global restructuring and workforce reduction plan aimed at significant cost savings and technological realignment. The company is targeting approximately 20 percent of its workforce as part of a multi-year strategy to reduce costs by $1.5 billion, with an initial goal of saving $400 million by the end of the current year.

Recent job cuts have been reported across several international locations. In Israel, 70 positions are being eliminated at the Tel Aviv site. In India, approximately 220 roles—about 4 percent of the local workforce—are being cut. Additional reductions include 251 positions in San Jose, USA, and 164 jobs in Ireland. The restructuring, led by CEO Enrique Lores, is intended to increase efficiency and shift the company's focus toward new technological priorities, including artificial intelligence.
