PayPay expands integration with SMBC and enhances card payment options

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) has introduced a new feature allowing users to link their PayPay accounts with the SMBC Banking and Vpass apps. Starting September 8, 2026, users can view their PayPay balances and PayPay points directly within the banking applications, facilitating centralized management of various cashless payment methods.

In a separate update, PayPay announced enhancements to its payment system, allowing users to apply PayPay points and PayPay Money toward PayPay Card billing. This feature now includes the ability to prepay for future monthly statements, with a monthly limit of 30 transactions totaling 1 million yen. This expansion aims to help users manage credit card availability by settling upcoming charges in advance. Note that certain limited-time points and PayPay Money Lite are excluded from this service.
