PayPay Insurance launches seasonal influenza coverage

PayPay Insurance Service has launched its seasonal influenza insurance, ‘Influenza Omimai-kin’, through the PayPay mini-app. The launch on October 5 marks the earliest start in the service's history, approximately 10 days ahead of last year. This acceleration is a response to earlier-than-expected influenza trends in Japan; data from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare showed the epidemic threshold was surpassed in mid-August.

The service offers three tiers: ‘Easy Plan’, ‘Basic Plan’, and ‘Relief Plan’. Coverage includes payouts for being prescribed anti-influenza medication for Type A or B influenza, as well as hospitalization benefits for stays of two days or more.

New incentives include a ‘Repeat Discount’ for previous policyholders, reducing monthly premiums by 10 yen, and an enhanced point system where users receive an additional 1% in PayPay points on their premium payments. The application and claims processes are managed entirely within the PayPay app.
