PayPay updates reward rules and launches Rocket Now promotion
PayPay has implemented rule changes to its ‘PayPay Step’ program, which affects how users earn point rewards. Under the new terms, users who have not completed identity verification are ineligible for increased point redemption rates.
PayPay representatives stated that the move aims to strengthen measures against crime, unauthorized use, money laundering, and terrorist financing. The company noted that identity verification also allows for higher transaction limits and provides full compensation in the event of fraudulent use.
In a separate promotional move, PayPay is running a campaign for the food delivery app ‘Rocket Now’. For the month of August 2026, first-time users of Rocket Now who make a payment of 2,000 yen or more via PayPay can participate in a scratch lottery to win PayPay points, with the top prize offering a 100% return on the transaction amount.
