Paysandu clinches sixth Copa Verde title as defender Yeferson Quintana's future remains undecided
Paysandu defeated Anápolis 4‑0 at the Mangueirão stadium to secure a sixth Copa Verde championship, completing a season that also saw the club win the Campeonato Paraense and the Copa Norte. The victory came after the team overturned a 3‑1 first‑leg deficit, with goals from Kleiton Pego, Castro and Ítalo.
Defender Yeferson Quintana, a 30‑year‑old Uruguayan and long‑time leader of the back line, said his contract will be reviewed in a meeting with the club’s board this week. He told reporters, "It may be my last title, we have to talk. If I leave, I will leave," adding that interest from other clubs is known to the directors. Quintana also mocked rival Remo supporters on social media, writing, "I thought Remo fans didn’t cry, but they do." The club now turns its focus to the upcoming Série C campaign.
