Paysandu overcomes Confiança with 2-1 comeback victory

Paysandu secured a 2-1 comeback victory against Confiança at the Curuzu stadium during the 16th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C. Confiança initially took the lead in the first half through a free kick by Ícaro, but Paysandu responded in the final minutes of the match.

Goals from Ítalo and Pedro Carrerete, both scored via headers following crosses, allowed Paysandu to reclaim the lead. This win moves Paysandu to 24 points, placing them in sixth position and back within the G8 zone for qualification to the next stage of the competition. Conversely, Confiança remains at the bottom of the table with 15 points.

Coach Junior Rocha praised the support of the crowd, noting that the match saw one of the team's largest attendances of the year. Despite facing some boos during the period when the team was trailing, Rocha emphasized the importance of the three points. Paysandu faces a challenging final stretch with upcoming away matches against Ferroviária and Ituano, followed by a home game against Maringá.
