Paysandu plans modernization and expansion of Curuzu stadium in Belém

President Márcio Tuma of Paysandu announced that the club has hired a São Paulo‑based architect to design a phased modernization of the Estádio Leônidas Sodré de Castro, known as Curuzu. The project aims to improve spectator comfort by installing seats throughout the venue and to raise the stadium’s capacity from roughly 16,700 to about 20,000. Work will be executed in modular stages so that the club can continue using the ground during construction. An adjacent property on Travessa do Chaco will be acquired and demolished to allow expansion of the stands. No official timeline for the works has been set.

The club emphasized that the renovation will be carried out gradually, with careful planning to avoid disruption to ongoing matches and activities.
