Paysandu targets Série B promotion in decisive Série C phase

Paysandu enters the decisive final stage of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C, aiming for promotion to Série B. Head coach Júnior Rocha has described the upcoming six-game quadrangular phase as the team’s “Copa do Mundo de seis jogos” (six-game World Cup), emphasizing the high stakes and the need for maximum concentration.

Competing in Group C alongside Brusque, Ferroviária, and Inter de Limeira, Paysandu is fighting for one of two available promotion spots. The team is scheduled to debut in this phase on Monday against Brusque at the Mangueirão stadium.

Rocha is also working toward a significant personal milestone. If he manages the team through the end of the season, he will become only the third coach in the 21st century to lead Paysandu from the first to the last official game of a single season, joining Givanildo Oliveira and Márcio Fernandes. Under his leadership, the club has already secured titles in the Campeonato Paraense, Copa Norte, and Copa Verde.
