Paytm posts record EBITDA as board rejects bonus‑share proposal
Paytm (One 97 Communications Ltd.) announced its Q1 FY27 financial results, reporting a record quarterly EBITDA of Rs 203 crore, an 182% year‑on‑year increase, and an operating revenue rise of 28% to Rs 2,448 crore. Profit after tax grew 79% to Rs 220 crore, and merchant gross merchandise value accelerated 31% YoY to Rs 7.1 lakh crore. The company highlighted growth across its merchant and consumer businesses, driven by AI‑led operating leverage, expanding payment processing margins, and increased distribution of financial services.
In a separate filing, Paytm’s board voted against a proposal to issue bonus shares, stating the company should continue to focus on compounding growth and profitability for long‑term shareholder value. The board’s decision comes shortly after the parent company announced consideration of its first bonus‑share issue.
