Philadelphia 76ers acquire Jaylen Brown from Boston Celtics

The Philadelphia 76ers have completed a blockbuster offseason trade, acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics. In exchange, the Celtics received Paul George, two first-round draft picks, and two second-round picks.

76ers executive Bob Myers detailed the negotiations, noting that the deal became viable after rumors regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo shifted. Myers praised Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens as a “straight shooter” during the discussions. The acquisition of Brown, coming off a career-high statistical season, joins a Philadelphia roster that also recently added LeBron James.

Myers commented on James’ decision to join Philadelphia, stating that the veteran star chose the path with the highest expectations rather than seeking comfort in Los Angeles or returning to former teams.

In Boston, Brad Stevens described the process of trading franchise players as “brutal” but necessary for the team's competitive future. Despite the departure, Stevens indicated that Brown’s jersey number will likely be retired by the Celtics in the future, acknowledging his significant legacy and championship contributions to the franchise.
