PB IPSI inaugurates new leadership to target Olympic inclusion

The Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (PB IPSI) held its national working meeting and inauguration for the 2026–2031 management period at TMII, Jakarta. The new leadership, headed by Sugiono, aims to build upon the foundations laid by previous leadership, specifically citing the guidance of President Prabowo Subianto.

A primary objective for the new term is to develop more detailed and targeted programs to prepare pencak silat for inclusion in the Olympic Games. Officials emphasized that the sport serves a dual purpose: as a competitive international athletic discipline and as a vital piece of Indonesian cultural heritage that must be preserved.

Regional representatives, including those from Bangka Belitung, expressed support for the continuity of athlete development programs to ensure progress is not interrupted. The association intends to foster cooperation across all levels of society to enhance athlete and coach quality while promoting national unity through the martial art.
