PBAT Movement challenges Atiku Abubakar to address US corruption allegations

The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement 2027, a group campaigning for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to visit the United States to address past controversies.

The movement cited allegations arising from a United States federal investigation and court proceedings involving former US Congressman William Jefferson. The group claims these proceedings raised questions regarding Atiku’s business dealings and public record during his tenure as Nigeria’s vice president, specifically mentioning an alleged $500,000 payment linked to the Jefferson case.

Additionally, the group raised questions regarding a US Senate investigation into financial transactions involving Jennifer Douglas, Atiku’s former wife, concerning offshore transactions and alleged links to Siemens. The movement stated that while these allegations do not constitute a declaration of guilt, Atiku should provide direct clarification to the Nigerian public as he considers a return to the presidential contest in 2027.
