PBNU and Qatar Embassy discuss education and scholarship cooperation

The Embassy of Qatar in Indonesia and the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) are exploring cooperation across several sectors, including education, energy, and tourism. During a meeting in Jakarta, Qatar's Second Secretary, Mohammed Bin Awad al-Shammari, met with PBNU Secretary General Gudfan Arif to discuss initiatives such as scholarships for NU cadres, student and teacher exchanges, and the marketing of Islamic boarding school (pesantren) products to Qatar.

As part of the visit, the Qatari Embassy presented 1,000 copies of the Al-Qur'an to be distributed to pesantren and mosques. Discussions emphasized the shared religious and cultural ties between the two nations, particularly through the management of Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages. PBNU officials expressed interest in deepening these ties through concrete educational programs and scholarship opportunities for students to study in Qatar.
