Příbram opens new solar panel recycling center
A new recycling center has opened in Příbram, Czech Republic, to address the growing need for solar panel disposal. As millions of panels installed in recent years reach the end of their 20-to-25-year lifespan, the facility provides a way to recover valuable raw materials.
The recycling process involves separating connection cables, aluminum frames, and glass. Technical experts noted that the facility can extract silver, aluminum, and silicon from the components. Once processed, these materials can be reused in various industries, such as construction.
While some panels are being replaced to increase efficiency, others have been damaged by weather. The facility handles both end-of-life panels and those damaged by environmental factors, utilizing automated machinery to dismantle and grind materials into usable particles.
