PBS announces documentary series Ages of Ice narrated by David Tennant

PBS has announced the premiere of ‘Ages of Ice’, a three-part documentary series narrated by Scottish actor David Tennant. The series is scheduled to debut on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 10 p.m. ET, with new hour-long episodes airing weekly.

The documentary follows scientific expeditions from the Arctic Ocean to the Antarctic plateaus, focusing on how polar regions are changing and the subsequent impacts on climate, sea levels, and ecosystems. Produced by Northern Pictures, the series combines footage of wildlife and landscapes with frontline scientific research.

The three episodes are titled ‘The Frozen Heart’, ‘Polar Seas’, and ‘The Incubator of Life’. The first episode explores glacier movement and climate history stored in ice. The second examines the role of polar seas in the global climate, including NASA research on sea ice and clouds. The final episode expands the scope to discuss the presence of ice on comets, planets, and moons.
