PC memory and NVMe SSD prices projected to rise in late 2026

Counterpoint Research forecasts price increases for computer components in the fourth quarter of 2026. Specifically, 8 GB SoDIMM DDR4 memory is expected to rise by an average of 13 percent compared to the third quarter, while 1 TB NVMe cSSD prices are projected to increase by 11 percent.

Analysts suggest that DRAM costs may continue to climb into the first quarter of 2027. While price surges have slowed following volatility earlier in the year, the rising costs of components are driving up overall system prices. This has impacted demand, with PC shipment volumes falling 21 percent year-over-year in the third quarter of 2026.

To compensate for lower sales volumes, manufacturers are focusing on higher price points to protect margins. Although a global supply decline of 27 percent is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, experts suggest that AI PCs and premium displays may create new market opportunities as the industry moves toward stabilization in 2027.
