PCC Select XI names squad for Pakistan warm-up match

The PCC Select XI has announced a 14-member squad for a three-day warm-up match against Pakistan, scheduled to begin on August 14, 2026, at Beckenham. The match was postponed by one day following a mutual agreement between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Emilio Gay has been included in the squad despite a recent shoulder injury sustained while playing for Durham in the One-Day Cup. His selection suggests that medical scans revealed no serious issues and that he is on track for fitness ahead of the first Test against Pakistan at Headingley on August 19. The Beckenham fixture will serve as a practical test of his recovery.

The squad will be captained by Tom Haines of Sussex, with Mike Yardy overseeing coaching duties. The roster includes several players, though some England internationals may face tight schedules depending on their progress in the Hundred or the One-Day Cup knockout stages.
