PCE demands transparency for Hospital del Bierzo radiotherapy project

The Communist Party of Spain (PCE) has criticized the recent announcement regarding the construction license for the new Radiotherapy Unit at Hospital del Bierzo. The party argues that the announcement is insufficient and is demanding full transparency regarding the project's technical details and budget.

The PCE noted that public radiotherapy services have been promised to the region for over two decades without materialization, despite various budget allocations in previous years. While past budgets were minimal, the current investment is estimated at over 7.2 million euros. This includes approximately 3.5 million euros for construction, 3 million euros for a linear accelerator, and 600,000 euros for a CT simulator.

The party is calling on the Junta de Castilla y León and the Ponferrada City Council to make the project's memory, plans, technical characteristics, and detailed budget available to the public. They argue that without a clearly defined and public project, a construction license cannot be properly substantiated.
