PCP warns of opposition to Portugal's 2027 State Budget

The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) has called for broad measures to combat the rising cost of living, stating that the general population now constitutes a “special sector” in need of fundamental support. During a protest in Lisbon, PCP Secretary-General Paulo Raimundo expressed concerns regarding price increases and the need for better wage and pension adjustments.

Raimundo signaled that the party is likely to reject the 2027 State Budget if the government maintains its current policy direction. He criticized the executive for failing to fix fuel prices and expressed skepticism regarding the allocation of public funds, specifically questioning the extent of tax benefits and the transfer of resources from the public health sector to the private sector.
