PCPD and HKIRC launch free website security scanning programme
The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) and the Hong Kong Internet Registration Authority (HKIRC) have launched the ‘Data Privacy and Website Security Scanning Programme’. This free initiative is available to all schools, non-profit organizations, and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hong Kong.
The programme utilizes non-intrusive scanning technology to identify potential security risks and personal data protection vulnerabilities, such as system configuration flaws or improper security settings, without affecting daily website operations. Participating organizations will receive customized assessment reports and professional advisory services to provide specific improvement and remediation recommendations.
This initiative, which serves as part of the PCPD’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, aims to help organizations build a more robust cybersecurity foundation amidst the rapid development of digital technology and AI. Applications are open until November 16, 2026.
