Pécs Pride organizer claims dismissal following state agency notification

Géza Buzás-Hábel, the organizer of Pécs Pride and director of the Diverse Youth Network, claims he was forced to leave his position at the Gandhi Gimnázium following a notification from the Constitutional Protection Office.

According to Buzás-Hábel, the office flagged a compromising video of him that had been recorded without his knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic. The video surfaced on the internet years later, leading the Constitutional Protection Office to notify the Social Opportunity Promotion Directorate, which manages the school's operator. Following this, the school administration issued instructions to terminate his employment.

Buzás-Hábel stated that the incident felt like a targeted message to signal that he was being watched. He reported being unemployed for a year following his departure, noting that he was unable to find work even in service roles. He also mentioned a previous legal proceeding related to last year's Pride event, which was dismissed in June, but noted that had it been finalized under the previous government, it could have permanently barred him from teaching in public education.
