PD-1 non-small cell lung cancer market to reach $41.45 billion by 2030
The global market for PD-1 non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) therapies is projected to grow from $27.5 billion in 2025 to $41.45 billion by 2030, according to a report by The Business Research Company. This growth is driven by advancements in personalized medicine, the expansion of combination therapies, and accelerated clinical development.
Key drivers include the increasing use of genomic profiling and biomarkers to tailor treatments to individual patients. The report notes that the FDA approved 16 new personalized drugs for rare diseases in 2023, a significant increase from six in 2022. Additionally, the development of combination regimens—pairing PD-1 inhibitors with chemotherapy, CTLA-4 inhibitors, or mRNA vaccines—is expanding treatment options.
Recent industry activity highlights this momentum. In March 2025, Akeso Inc. reported positive Phase III results for ivonescimab combined with chemotherapy, showing improved progression-free survival compared to pembrolizumab. Furthermore, in February 2025, Germany’s BioNTech SE acquired China’s Biotheus Inc. to gain access to PM8002, a bispecific antibody targeting PD-L1 and VEGF-A.
While North America is expected to remain the largest market in 2025, the Asia-Pacific region is forecasted to experience the fastest growth rate through 2030.
