PDB engineer suspended after viral bribery video

Md. Nurul Amin, an executive engineer in the Sales and Distribution Division of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (PDB) in Lakshmipur, has been temporarily suspended from his position. The suspension follows the viral spread of a video on social media depicting him engaging in discussions regarding illegal financial transactions.

In the video, Amin is heard demanding 2 crore BDT to approve certain documents, stating, “Give me 2 crore from 5 crore, and I will sign everything.” He also discussed the misappropriation of materials, suggesting that materials worth 30 lakh BDT were being used for a 3 lakh BDT project.

The PDB Investigation and Discipline Directorate issued the suspension order under Rule 141 (1) of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (Employees) Service Rules 1982. PDB officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine further disciplinary actions.
