PDI arrests suspected femicide perpetrator in a circus

The Investigations Police (PDI) have arrested a man suspected of committing the femicide of a 43-year-old woman in Renaico, La Araucanía region. The victim was discovered dead in a residence in the Estación sector last Friday, showing signs consistent with strangulation.

Following the crime, the suspect, who was in a relationship with the victim, fled Renaico by bus toward Los Ángeles. However, police intelligence and criminal analysis allowed detectives to locate and capture him while he was hiding in a circus in the city of Nacimiento. The individual has a prior criminal record, including robbery with intimidation and a previous ten-year sentence in the Metropolitan Region.

The Minister of Women and Gender Equality, Judith Marín, confirmed that the government will file a lawsuit to pursue criminal responsibility in this case.
