PDI Perjuangan commemorates Bung Hatta to promote historical education

Bonnie Triyana, Chairman of the PDI Perjuangan History Board, stated that the commemoration of Mohammad Hatta’s birth in Padang, West Sumatra, should serve as more than just romanticizing a historical figure. He emphasized that the event is an effort to recontextualize Hatta’s thoughts to address contemporary Indonesian issues.

Triyana noted that the activity is part of the party’s mission to provide historical education to the public and advance culture. He argued that political parties should not be viewed solely as electoral institutions focused on power every five years, but rather as public institutions that actively participate in building Indonesian civilization.
