PDI Subprefect detained for alleged sexual abuse of subordinate

David Castro, a subprefect and former head of the Metropolitan Economic Crimes Investigation Brigade (Bridec) of the PDI, has been detained and formalized following allegations of sexual abuse against a subordinate.

The incident reportedly occurred during a gathering at a colleague's home following Independence Day celebrations. The victim alleged that Castro performed non-consensual touching. Prosecutors noted that while alcohol was consumed during the event, the accused remained conscious at the time of the alleged incident. Investigators are also examining potential photographic evidence of the event.

Castro, who previously led high-profile investigations into economic fraud and medical license networks, submitted his voluntary resignation to the PDI immediately following the incident. The court has established a 90-day period for the investigation and imposed several precautionary measures, including a national travel ban, a prohibition on contacting or approaching the victim, and the suspension of his right to carry firearms.
