PDIP dismisses Surabaya official Achmad Hidayat over ethical violations

The PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) central leadership has dismissed Achmad Hidayat from his position as Secretary of the Surabaya City branch. PDIP Chairman Said Abdullah stated that the dismissal was due to serious ethical violations, including alleged civil and criminal matters, rather than solely because of Hidayat's visit to former President Joko Widodo's residence in Solo.

Said Abdullah noted that there were numerous violations that the party chose not to disclose in detail to the public. Party spokesperson Aryo Seno Bagaskoro added that the dismissal is a logical consequence for members who disobey the party's command line.

Achmad Hidayat responded to the dismissal by thanking the party for the opportunity to contribute to various election campaigns, including the 2024 legislative elections and local elections in Surabaya. Regarding his visit to Joko Widodo, Hidayat explained that his relationship with the former president dates back to his work supporting Widodo's campaigns in Surabaya between 2014 and 2019.
