PDIP reports social media accounts for alleged defamation of Ellen Taroreh

The legal aid body of the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) in Jakarta has reported several social media accounts to the Polda Metro Jaya police for alleged defamation. The report follows claims that several Instagram accounts intentionally misidentified Ellen Taroreh, a strategic official within the South Jakarta DPC PDIP, as Melva Pardede.

Melva Pardede is an individual who gained viral attention during a demonstration in front of the DPR RI Building on August 27, 2026. The reports state that social media users posted photos of Taroreh alongside Pardede to mislead the public.

Budi Sembiring, Secretary of BBHAR DPD PDIP DKI Jakarta, clarified that the photo being circulated was actually taken during a press conference at the PDIP Party School on February 25, 2026, and has no connection to the viral figure. The legal action aims to protect the reputation of the party cadre and address the spread of false information in digital spaces.
