PDIP urges exclusive breastfeeding to curb stunting in Sukabumi

Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, said exclusive breastfeeding (ASI) is a cornerstone for preventing child stunting. He made the remarks at the World Breast‑Milk Day event held in Lapangan Sekarwangi, Cibadak, Sukabumi, on 6 August 2026, and conveyed a greeting from former President Megawati Soekarnoputri, who has consistently supported maternal‑child health.

Kristiyanto highlighted that the prevalence of stunting in Sukabumi Regency stands at 20.5 percent, placing it among the five highest rates in West Java. He framed the issue as a political responsibility to build a healthier future generation, urging local officials and communities to ensure infants receive full‑nutrient breast milk as a foundation for intelligence and leadership.
