Albin Kurti re-elected as Kosovo Prime Minister
The Kosovo Parliament has re-elected Albin Kurti as Prime Minister for his fourth mandate. The new government, led by the Vetëvendosje movement, secured 62 votes out of 120 members. Key appointments in the new cabinet include Glauk Konjufca as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Xhelal Sveçla as Minister of Internal Affairs, and Ejup Maçedonci as Minister of Defense.
Despite the government's formation, political instability persists. Bekim Sejdiu has withdrawn his candidacy for President, citing a lack of necessary parliamentary support and a deviating political process. The inability to elect a president remains a critical issue, as a two-thirds majority is required for the role. Failure to reach a consensus could potentially trigger new early parliamentary elections.
Opposition parties, including the PDK and Alliance, have boycotted recent sessions and expressed intentions to appeal to the Constitutional Court regarding the parliament's constitution process. Meanwhile, Kurti has outlined a new energy program focusing on renewable sources, aiming for 555 MW of new wind and solar capacity to increase domestic energy production.
