PDP governors support Edo Governor Obaseki over naira comments

Governors within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have expressed support for Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki following controversies regarding his recent comments on the naira. The PDP Governors Forum defended Obaseki’s warnings concerning the uncontrolled use of 'Ways and Means' and the printing of currency to fund government expenditure.

Cyril Maduabum, Director-General of the PDP Governors Forum, criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for attacking Obaseki’s economic advice. The forum also criticized former Central Bank Governor Emefiele, describing his insistence that states repay federal loans as “vindictive and vengeful.” The governors highlighted Nigeria’s high inflation rate, currently at 18.2 percent, as a primary concern requiring urgent attention.
