Ogun State political parties launch 2027 election campaigns
Political mobilization for the 2027 governorship elections in Ogun State has intensified, with both major parties launching significant campaigns.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) officially flagged off its statewide campaign in Abeokuta. PDP governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu and his deputy, ‘Yemi Showunmi-Kolapo, addressed supporters, promising to end corruption and misgovernance to achieve what he termed a ‘call to liberation’.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a mega rally in Ijebu-Ode to support its candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola. Governor Dapo Abiodun declared the party is fully prepared for the 2027 elections, citing a strong grassroots structure and the achievements of his administration.
However, the APC faces internal challenges. Aspirant Abayomi Hunye has challenged the validity of the party's primary election in court, alleging a lack of transparency and fairness after receiving zero votes in the process that produced Adeola.
