PDP leader Abdul Kabir detained in Jammu and Kashmir

Abdul Kabir, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been detained at the Kishtwar Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir for questioning. The detention follows comments Kabir made during a PDP event, where he referred to the slain Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani as a ‘martyr’.

Kabir defended his remarks as a matter of personal opinion, stating that in a democratic country, individuals should be free to express their views. He also noted that BJP leaders had previously visited Wani’s family to provide compensation following his death in a 2016 encounter. Burhan Wani was killed alongside two others in the Anantnag district.
