Pádraic Joyce resigns as Galway football manager

Pádraic Joyce has announced his resignation as manager of the Galway Senior Football Team, ending a seven-season tenure. In a statement released via the Galway County Board, Joyce described it as a ‘privilege and an honour’ to manage his county after years of playing for the team.

During his leadership, which began in 2019, Joyce led Galway to two All-Ireland finals and secured four consecutive Connacht titles. Despite this consistency, the team was unable to secure an All-Ireland championship title under his management and suffered quarterfinal exits in the last two summers.

The departure comes as an unexpected development, as previous reports in July had suggested Joyce would remain in charge for the 2027 season. The Galway County Board has confirmed that the process to appoint a successor is already underway.
