Pădurea Copiilor launches two urban permaculture education sites in Ploiești and Urziceni
The non‑profit association Pădurea Copiilor completed the “Urban Permaculture – Educational Poles Ploiești‑Urziceni” project, funded by the Foundation for Partnership and MOL România under the Green Spaces Programme. The four‑month effort created two 1,500 m² educational gardens – one in Ploiești West Municipal Park and another in the courtyard of Liceul Tehnologic “Sfânta Ecaterina” in Urziceni – with a budget of 40,000 lei.
Around 150 volunteers of all ages, including students, teachers and local residents, participated in soil preparation, sowing, planting fruit trees, vines, pollinator‑friendly plants and a variety of ornamental species. The sites now serve as living laboratories for teaching sustainable agriculture, biodiversity and community responsibility.
The project also established a community nursery in Ploiești, planting 91 mother plants of trees, shrubs and grasses, and a seedling nursery at the Urziceni school to support future planting cycles.
