PDVSA strategic material trafficking arrests in Venezuela

Venezuelan authorities have arrested two business owners in connection with the alleged illicit trafficking of strategic materials belonging to Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) and the Paraguaná Refining Complex (CRP).

Franklin David García La Concha, owner of the dealership Frank Motors Paraguaná C.A., and Yoselyn Beatriz Piña Piña were detained by the Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Group (GAES) at the entrance of Barquisimeto. The arrests follow an investigation into the illegal trade of approximately 5.5 tons of ferrous scrap metal. The suspects face charges including the illicit trafficking of strategic resources, money laundering, and conspiracy, as ordered by the Second Control Court of Falcón state.

The investigation is being led by the 27th National Prosecutor's Office, which specializes in capital legitimacy and financial crimes.
