PEA disputes rise 150% in one year, according to AMF

The Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) reported a significant surge in disputes regarding the Plan d’épargne en actions (PEA). In 2025, the institution recorded 3,010 new mediation requests, representing a 37% increase over the previous year.

Specifically, disputes involving the PEA jumped by 150% in one year, totaling 462 cases. Approximately three-quarters of these PEA-related disputes stem from difficulties encountered when transferring the account from one financial institution to another. This trend is attributed to the entry of new European financial actors operating in France, whose procedures may differ from traditional French banks and brokers, leading to longer and more complex transfer processes. The AMF also noted general misunderstandings regarding PEA operations, such as the necessity of an initial deposit to effectively open the plan and frustrations regarding liquidity withdrawals.
