Peace Arch monument to host 9/11 25th anniversary memorial

New York first responders are expected to attend the Northwest 9/11 Memorial ceremony at the Peace Arch monument to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The ceremony will take place at the border crossing between Surrey, British Columbia, and Blaine, Washington.

Attendees will include hundreds of first responders, military and border officers, and dignitaries from both Canada and the United States. The event will feature a helicopter flypast by U.S. Homeland Security. Organizers stated that holding the ceremony at the park straddling the border serves as an “enduring expression of friendship and solidarity” between the two nations while reflecting on the lives lost and the subsequent years of service and sacrifice.
