Peace Arch Park to host 25th annual 9/11 memorial ceremony
Preparations are underway for the 25th annual Northwest 9/11 Memorial ceremony at Peace Arch Park. The cross-border event, scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m., aims to honor the nearly 3,000 people killed in the September 11, 2001, attacks.
More than 400 attendees are expected, including first responders, military personnel, border services, and public officials from both Canada and the United States. The ceremony will feature four first responders from the New York City Police Department and New York City fire and emergency medical services.
Highlights of the 70-minute service include the singing of national anthems by the Van City Chorus and a helicopter flypast by U.S. Homeland Security. The event will also include a community gathering and barbecue at Peace Arch Provincial Park following the formal service.
