Peace Tree Choir to perform in Seoul for atomic bomb survivors

The Peace Tree Choir will hold a special performance titled ‘Cheer Up, Clear Water’ on October 31 at the Cheondogyo Central Church near Anguk Station in Seoul. The event aims to honor the suffering of Korean atomic bomb survivors and their descendants, while advocating for a nuclear-free world.

The performance includes songs, poetry, and testimonies from second-generation survivors. The choir, consisting of approximately 50 members, has been practicing for months to support the ‘Hapcheon Nuclear-Free Peace Convention’ and the amendment of the ‘Special Act on Support for Korean Atomic Bomb Victims.’

Organizers emphasize the need for the government and National Assembly to recognize the descendants of survivors as legal victims and provide necessary health, livelihood, and care support, noting that the 1965 treaty between Korea and Japan failed to address compensation for these victims.
