Peacelink calls for mobilization against European rearmament
Peacelink has issued a call for pacifist mobilization through the ‘Peace3’ initiative, outlining three strategic objectives for the upcoming three months to counter European rearmament and geopolitical tensions.
The first objective focuses on monitoring the ‘Steadfast Noon’ NATO nuclear exercise scheduled for October. The second objective aims to oppose the return of medium-range missiles in Europe, noting Germany’s preparations to acquire Tomahawk missiles. The third objective calls for criticism of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), a high-cost sixth-generation fighter jet project involving Italy.
The initiative emphasizes the risks posed by new hypersonic technologies and the collapse of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, warning that new European missiles could increase the risk of accidental nuclear war. Peacelink advocates for increased public debate, parliamentary scrutiny, and collective information campaigns to counter the normalization of nuclear warfare.
