Peacewalk 2026 Arrives in Vienna for Four‑Day Public Event
The international Peacewalk 2026 will be hosted in Vienna from 6 to 9 August 2026. Over four days the walking route will culminate in a series of public activities, including a Hiroshima‑memorial demonstration at Karlsplatz, a film screening and panel discussion on 7 August, a dialogue‑focused encounter on Mariahilfer Straße on 8 August, and a final day march from Stephansplatz to Fischamend on 9 August.
The walk is part of a fifteen‑month pilgrimage from various European starting points toward Jerusalem/Al‑Quds. It entered Austria via Switzerland on 25 June and a second route crossed from Passau on 20 July, with more than 150 participants already having walked sections of the trail. The Austrian segment is coordinated by the Civil Action Network and supported by a coalition that includes WILPF Austria, Standing Together Vienna, Combatants for Peace, Pax Christi Österreich, and the International Reconciliation Union.
The event aims to convey a collective call for peace and justice, expressing solidarity with Israeli and Palestinian peace activists who refuse to become adversaries.
