Peach producers in Çivril face rising costs and low prices

Peach producers in Çivril, Denizli, are facing significant economic hardship due to rising production costs and low market prices. A delegation from the Republican People's Party (CHP), including Denizli Deputy Gülizar Biçer Karaca and Provincial Chairman Ayhan Oran, visited local orchards to assess the situation.

Farmers reported that increasing expenses for diesel, fertilizer, pesticides, and irrigation are making production unsustainable. The economic pressure is so severe that one producer expressed a desire to be a hired laborer rather than an owner, stating, “I wish this orchard wasn't mine and I was just a worker here.”

Local reports indicate that high yields combined with a contraction in exports have driven producer prices down, with some products being sold to juice factories for as little as 4 lira per kilogram. CHP officials emphasized the need for agricultural support to prevent farmers from abandoning their land.
