Peacock streaming service celebrates six years, unveils new subscription discounts
NBCUniversal launched the Peacock streaming platform on July 15, 2020, offering a tiered model with a free ad‑supported tier and paid Premium and Premium Plus options. The service, owned by Comcast, leverages NBCUniversal’s library—including popular series such as The Office and Parks and Recreation—and has expanded into live sports and original programming, reaching roughly one million paid subscribers by early 2026.
Peacock is now promoting a series of subscription offers: two‑month free access through DirecTV bundles, free trials via Instacart+ and Walmart+, a year‑long student and young‑adult discount, an Apple TV‑Peacock bundle, and a monthly statement‑credit for Mastercard holders. Plans range from a $7.99 Select tier to a $16.99 Premium Plus tier, with annual pricing discounts of up to two months’ cost.
